You can have long detailed versions and shorter versions of subject matter, but I still think a single subject per video is more appropriate. I was reminded today that I have a primarily Decisive personality type. Decisives like things "to-the-point", so short videos is my primary focus. There are also logistical issues, including being able to quickly load and find content. If you have a lot to say, it's best to provide many short videos so that if someone misses something, they can simply replay one short video instead of a 30, 60 or 90 minute video.
I love the DISC personality system and have been studying its principles for many years. Although there are many reasons to drag out your message into a lengthy video presentation, it is important to understand why.
The Steady or Sensitive personality in the DISC system wants to know you care, so this takes time to establish and requires a lot of personal eye to eye contact and personal details that have nothing to do with the subject matter at hand. They want to know about your dog or family, even though they are trying to learn about social media. The Conservatives in the DISC system are more concerned with the number and procedures associated with the content, so providing as much detail as possible attracts this personality trait. Influencers will tolerate long videos if the video comes across with a consistently uplifting message. They want to feel good about the experience, and if you can pull this off, your message will be attractive to them at any length.
I think all of us would like the shorter version to at least get an overview and to decide if we want to move forward with getting more information, and addressing all of the personality types and traits seems to work well for the productions we have done to date. It is a constant challenge to appeal to all and still get the subject matter covered, but the best practices we have developed for video (the eWorkshop) seems to do it nicely. I hope you will take some time to review our eWorkshop Courses site and let me know what you think about the approach.
