You're Here To Break That Vicious And Costly Failure Cycle. My goal is to help you see the Internet clearly and break free of the cycle which has brought you nothing but frustration, financial losses and confusion -- starting today. To achieve this goal, I am going to make a series of recommendations in step-by-step form.
Step 3: Understand What Email Can And Cannot Do - Email is one of the most important tools to emerge from Internet technology. It is also one of the most misunderstood and misused. Even amongst online entrepreneurs who should know better the belief is rampant that "email it and they will buy."
Amongst entrepreneurial Web newbies this belief is as endemic and hard to eradicate as kudzu. Email, you see, is seductive. There is it. It's a tool even the most technically challenged can easily use. Their reckoning goes something like this: If I purchased a list of 100,000 "opt in" members (surely not spam) and got even a 1% response, I'd make a cool $50,000 selling my $49.95 item. Wow! What time does the bank open anyway?
I do not choose this example at random. Just a few weeks ago an Internet newbie called to brag about the killing he was about to make online. He'd just rented a list of 100,000, had retained a copywriter (he selected a "cheaper" one than me because surely "all copywriters are the same, right?"), and was ready to rock and roll. Well the rock rolled right over him. All his high hopes were completely dashed when he got -- precisely NO responses. Not even one. His castles in Spain evaporated along
with his lost list rental and copywriting fees.
What went wrong?
First, beware of all "opt in" lists where the proprietor claims everyone has either asked to be on this list or confirmed it's ok to email them. Most "opt in" lists are little more than thinly disguised spam. The bigger the list, the more likely this is the case.
Second, just because you can send email doesn't mean that anyone actually receives it. Some recent email studies have concluded that 99% of email is blocked by one device or another. That means up to 99 emails out of 100 die before reaching their intended recipients. Bummer.
So, how is email properly used?
Sending a customer newsletter, corresponding with business prospects and customers, customer follow up, responding to inquiries, etc. In other words, in legitimate business situations where you are dealing with people who know you, have requested information, want to hear from you, and want to do business with you. In these situations, nothing tops email, where delivery is near instantaneous and the price is surely right.
As you already know I'm a professional copywriter of over 30 years standing. As such I write the material you need to motivate your prospects and for your newsletter.
First there are the Prospect Emailers. These are short messages designed to motivate your prospects to respond to you to do business.
Second, there are the newsletter templates. These are designed to get your newsletter subscribers to respond to you, become Associates, and do business.

LinkedIn Recommendation:
Jacqueline Riech - Desk Clerk at Data Systems - I am flying out to DC next month for one of Teo's seminars. Great stuff online, but I really want to meet him... nobody has done more for my business and I can't imagine anyone really helping they way he does. Just straight to the point information, and none of the fluff! I think he should be a life coach! - March 17, 2012, Jacqueline was Teo's client |
