Page County Landfill Scandal

The Page County, Virginia landfill scandal is a powerful example of how government touches our lives – with bribes, nepotism, Mafioso connections, abuse of the poor and the uninformed citizen, and just plain jackbooted ugliness. This demonstrates how ordinary citizens and taxpayers are abused by a notion that governments – even local governments – are sovereign, all-powerful and can join with criminals to rape the public, without the slightest fear of punishment.

My dad had read a book about our county, Page County, VA that I have been looking since 2004. He had borrowed it and given it back, and has quoted from it several times. I can't find it on the net, but here is an article that mentions some of the subject matter.

It is an ugly thing, but I believe it. As I get older, I see more and more evidence that an "evil few" are abusing, cheating, stealing and murdering the rest of us. I remember living in Page County in 2004 and about half of the county got sick from the water. It was documented how medical waste was dumped into the landfill, now I cannot find this documentation.

Now, I like to focus on the positive, so I will continually update this article with remedies to this situation as I see them come about. This may not happen in my lifetime though.

Update: Articles about Marvin seem to be disappearing from the net... For example: the story about the death of Marvin's babysitter are systematically being removed from the net. I read the article from the Washington Post's web site when it first came out, but now it is gone! Here it is from another web site.

Dead Babysitter

Update: I finally found a couple references to the book mentioned:

Kieloch, Edward A. - The corrupt county : corruption's
crooked trail through the Shenandoah
Valley

There is apparently a sequel too.

Kieloch, Edward A. - A year later : Sequel to
"the corrupt county"

I can't find a copy of either anywhere and these references were very difficult to find too.
