The New Cash Crop (for dummies) - Tobacco - A Good Second Choice To Marijuana

Submitted by Jason D. Rockinfeller | RSS Feed | Add Comment | Bookmark Me!

Marijuana has been a great cash crop for many for many decades, but as it becomes legal in many states to grow, the price is dropping, and with tobacco selling on the market for about $90 per pound, many marijuana growers are considering tobacco as an alternative for their cash crops!

Soon after Obama came into office, my 1/3 pound can of American Spirit tobacco went from about $10 to almost $30 per can. I role my own to save money, plus I think filters are for wimps... but the cost was killing me, so I began to grow my own. My parents taught me how to take advantage of the system - you know - the one controlled by "The Man!" My parents (remember my grandpappy - John Davison Rockefeller) and our friends are "The Man!" - but I wanted to share some good information with you small dumb farmers, because you all seem to miss every opportunity that bangs on your door... dummies...

We laid it out for everyone to see, and you still missed it... better get those hearing aids fixed, eh! [ref]

The Tobacco Transition Payment Program (TTPP), also called the "tobacco buy-out," helps tobacco quota holders and producers transition to the free market. (translated for dummies: "The Man" wants us to produce more tobacco - get it?)

The Fair and Equitable Tobacco Reform Act of 2004 (P.L. 108-357), signed by President Bush on Oct. 22, 2004, ended the Depression-era tobacco quota program and established the TTPP. The program provides annual transitional payments for 10 years to eligible tobacco quota holders and producers. Payments began in 2005 and continue through 2014. Payments are funded through assessments of approximately $10 billion on tobacco product manufacturers and importers. (translated for dummies: "The Man" at the time - Bush - opened the door to us marijuana growers - they are making tobacco more profitable so they can keep the black ops funded from outside the highly regulated US marijuana market - you can significantly profit from tobacco)

November 1, 2012 is the signup deadline for quota holders and producers to receive 2013 and future payments. (translated for dummies: "The Man" at this time - Obama - is opening the door for the few farmers that are smarter than dummies - if you got to this point, you have graduated from dummy almost a smarty!

When you consider other produce you can grow, the best you can do in terms of price per pound is generally spinich, arugula, and mesclun (max. $10/pound retail - organic - 2010 - [ref - University of Vermont - PDF]).

Thinking of growing animals for their flesh? The going rate is less than $10/pound retail, so that's not a great option either, and meat is more expensive to produce than plants.

So, marijuana was the main cash crop, right up through about 2008, and still sells illegally in small amounts from $2,000 to $8,000 per pound, but sells on the legal market for around $700 to $2,000 per pound. As the next best contender, $90 per pound for tobacco still seems like a pittance, but it is now a viable alternative to marijuana.

If I grow tobacco, do I need a license or permit from the TTB (Tobacco Tax and Trade)? [ref T16 - ttb.gov FAQ]

TTB does not license, or require a permit for, growing tobacco. In addition, TTB does not regulate the sale of tobaccos that are not tobacco products. (hey dummies... label it as "incense" to bypass any regulations)

Crop enterprise budgets developed by the Agricultural Economics Department at the University of Kentucky indicate that the cost of producing one acre of tobacco, including fertilizer, pesticides, equipment, structure maintenance, and labor, can range from approximately $2,600 to $3,300, depending on tobacco type and labor costs. These production costs can remain relatively constant over a yield range of 2,000 to 3,000 lb/acre.

For my US production facilities that are owned by my Cayman Island businesses (thanks for the idea Mitt Romney, but I think my family taught you that trick!), I have moved all my production facilities to growing tobacco. For my marijuana business, I grow it "legally" off shore - I could grow it in the US legally too, but the margins aren't nearly as good, and I get a much better price per ton from my CIA connections - they pay top dollar and can run the product right over the boarder without any problems - I think I earned over $300B last year working with them in the marijuana trade alone!

Ask me sometime why we ordered Bush to declare war on Afghanistan! The margin's on heroin blow marijuana away, and now with the help of the CIA, I have crushed the local distribution in that country and control almost 100% of the country's opium production, but I like to diversify, so I have my hand in a little of every pie! I also keep my low-rung job as a social worker to keep me tapped into the pulse of my primary market - poor people!

My progress report to my share holders is posted at the UNODC site [ref].... The amount of opium produced has risen from 3,600 metric tons in 2010 to 5,800 metric tons in 2011.
