In order to differ from autogenous tumbling mill, we often called the Ball Mill with metal media(steel balls or rod) conventional ball mill, such as ball mill and Rod Mill. Different type ball mill has different characteristic,so choose the proper type ball mill for your grinding project is very important.In the following paragraph,Zoneding Machine will explain the characteristic usage of different type ball mill.
Grid Ball Mill&Overflow Type Ball Mill: Grid ball milll is also named lattice-type ball mill,grid type ball mill finished product size can be 0.2-0.3mm,therefore can be used in the first stage of grinding, and from closed circuit with the Spiral Classifier. Overflow Type Ball Mill finished product size is less than 0.2mm generally, therefore, suitable for the second grinding stage for regrinding in the two stages of grinding. Grid type ball mill is able to discharge the qualified products timely,reduce ore over crushing, high efficiency of grinding ores,the production capacity is higher 15% than the same specification of Overflow Ball Mill, can load more balls. When the materials need to be groud t 48-65 mesh, adopt the grid type ball mill is better. The Beneficiation Production Line can select suitable ball mill type and model according to the actual requirements.
Rod Mill: Rod mill is used to grind material into fine powder, but differs from a ball mill in that it employs long steel rods instead of balls as the grinding medium. The mill length is limited by manufacturing constraints for the grinding rods. Rod mills are typically used for grinding ores, coal/coke, and other materials for both wet and dry applications. Length-to-diameter ratios should be kept above 1.4 to prevent rod entanglement. In general, rod mills create a coarser product than do Ball Mills. Rod mill speed is typically slower than a ball mill.
