Inspirational 'Daily Word' Now Available Online |

What's in a word? Inspiration. Peace. Tranquility. Comfort. Harmony. Inner peace. Hope. Guidance.
Since its beginnings in 1924, the venerable Daily Word magazine from Unity has offered spiritual enrichment to people of all faiths. Daily Word now has the distinction of being the oldest continually published daily inspirational magazine in the nation. It is published in seven languages and mailed to more than 1 million readers in 175 countries.
Unity is a trans-denominational organization based in Missouri whose goal is to help people apply positive spiritual principles to their daily lives.
In the 1960s, Unity began airing "The Word," televised readings of spiritual messages performed by celebrities. They continued through 1992. Today, Daily Word has established a presence in a new medium: the Internet.
"Our goal is to make the Daily Word message conveniently available to as many people as possible, at any time of day or night," said Tim Ipema, vice president of marketing and development for Unity. "Our research has shown that more and more people are turning to the Internet to gain spiritual enrichment, and we feel it's important for us to be where the spiritual-seekers are."
The new Web site, offers a variety of unique features and services, where members can:
* Read the Daily Word message online.
* Share thoughts and feelings about the daily messages with other members at the Daily Cafe, the site's forum.
* Search thousands of messages and articles in the Daily Word archives.
* Sign up for free e-mail delivery of Daily Word.
"With the Daily Cafe, we've created an online environment where Daily Word readers can exchange ideas about spirituality, faith and the human condition," Ipema said. "We consider it an online community, a virtual gathering place, in which users can nurture and enrich one another in the realm of spirituality."
