Quicksilver Faire

The Gillian Summers series for protagonist Keelie consists of two trilogies: The Faire Folk Trilogy and The Scions of Shadow Trilogy. The last renaming two books, The Quicksilver Faire and The Goblin’s Curse, will be released June 8, 2011 and 2012 respectively. This fascinating and original series is about a typical teenage California girl who quickly learns that she is half elf at a Renaissance fair. The authors revealed that the two most beloved characters in the series are the mischievous cat and the pervy hunter god who obviously desires Keelie. Like with many teenagers, this one has a rival, Aaliyah, who Keelie learns to tolerate toward the end of the series. As the book series progresses, it becomes darker and the main character learns valuable lessons in letting go of the past, facing her fears, and growing up.

Interesting enough, Michelle Roper, first learned that she wanted to be a writer in her early thirties, which lead to her meeting writer, Berta Platas. Both women are the best of friends and worked together on the series. The idea for the series originally came to them at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. In addition, these two ladies plan to release to two other books unrelated to the series. One book will be about a boy who is being cursed while the other book will be a realistic YA fiction book about a girl coping to fill in her father’s shoes while he suffers from an illness. These books’ release dates are to be determined later.

It seems that the sky is the limit for these wonderful authors. If you are an avid book reader to the YA fiction novels then these novels are great for you. For more information, please see these authors’ websites at www.gilliansummers.com and www.bertaplatas.com.
